Ursa Major is a strong angular bear. The original, which was carved from black Virginia Soapstone, won the Smith Award at the Lynchburg Art Show in 1992. This was my first major award!

This one was cast in bronze. It is number five of a limited edition of hand cast bronzes. Only ten will be cast.  It is available with or without a black soapstone base.

A bronze of Ursa Major was awarded First Prize in Three-Dimensions at Arts on the Lawn (now Art Affair) in Midlothian Virginia, October 2003. It also won a prize at the Roanoke City Show in 2000.
